Chartered in 1945 and proudly incorporated as a 501(c)(3) non-profit, Reamstown Memorial Park is a community-owned, private park located in Northern Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. For over 75 years, our park has been continuously operated by an elected board of volunteers, and we’ve remained committed to our mission — all without any tax dollar support. Our entire operating budget comes from the generosity of individuals, businesses, and charitable foundations who share our vision for a space that brings the community together.
Our 14+ acre park is open daily from dawn to dusk for everyone to enjoy. The creation and development of the park was made possible through the collaborative efforts of the Reamstown Fire Company, the Reamstown Athletic Association, and the East Cocalico Lions Club.
In 1946 and 1947, the grounds were landscaped, playground equipment was installed, and a band shell was built. But perhaps the most important milestone was the erection of a granite memorial, which honors the men and women from East Cocalico Township who served in World War II. The dedication ceremony for the War Memorial and Memorial Park took place on July 20, 1947, forever cementing the park as a place of remembrance and community pride.
In 1999, the park expanded its memorials to honor veterans of the Korean War and the Vietnam War with the installation of two additional granite monuments.
Over the years, the park has continued to grow. New attractions have been added, including the Kitchen Pavilion, several baseball fields, pickleball courts, and a volleyball court. Among these new additions is one of the most beloved places in our park, the "Newton Overholzer Cocalico Creation", a timber-built playground dedicated in September 1993 in memory of a volunteer who dedicated years of service to the park. This playground remains a local favorite, often bustling with children and their families on any given day.
Today, Reamstown Memorial Park hosts a wide variety of special events and activities that bring our community together. From the East Cocalico Lions Club Easter Egg Hunt—one of the largest in the county with over 1,000 attendees—to Reamstown Days, National Night Out, the Cocalico Baseball Organization, and many other celebrations, the park continues to be a place where all community members can gather, connect, and create lasting memories. As we look to the future, we remain committed to maintaining and enhancing the park for years to come.
